I'm Laurence Lai, a self-employed IT professional based in Ramsbottom, Greater Manchester. I build websites, set up email, provide AI products, and offer IT support for small businesses.

These terms apply to all services I provide, including:

3. pricing and payment

My standard pricing is as follows. All prices include VAT where applicable.

Other services are priced on a per-project basis and will be quoted before any work begins.

Spread payments (websites and services): Setup costs can be spread over 12 or 24 months with no upfront payment and no credit checks. Your monthly fee reduces once the spread term ends.

Spread payments (AI Accelerator training): A deposit of £2,000 is required before training begins. The remaining balance is spread over 6 monthly payments. No credit checks.

5. what's not included

I only support what I sell. I don't manage switches, firewalls, VPNs, or third-party hardware and software that I haven't supplied.

To keep things running smoothly, I need you to:

7. cancellation

You have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of agreement, in line with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If work has already started with your agreement during this period, you pay for work already completed.

For monthly services, you can cancel with 30 days written notice.

If you're on a spread payment agreement, you can cancel the service, but any remaining balance for the setup cost becomes due.

On cancellation, your website files can be provided to you. Domain transfers will be arranged at no extra cost.

8. intellectual property

You own all content you provide to me, including text, images, and logos.

I retain ownership of the website code and design until the project is fully paid. Once fully paid, you receive a licence to use the design for your business.

A small "Website by Laurence Lai" credit link in the footer is part of the standard agreement.

I may use your site as a portfolio example unless you ask me not to.

My AI chatbot, AI colleague, and AI receptionist products are powered by third-party AI models. There are a few things to be aware of:

I use a number of third-party services to deliver my work, including providers for website hosting, DNS and content delivery, email and productivity, and AI processing. These providers are based in the EU and US.

Each of these providers has their own terms of service. I manage these on your behalf but I'm not responsible for their outages or policy changes. If you would like to know which specific providers I use, please contact me.

11. limitation of liability

I will always do my best, but my liability is limited to the total fees you've paid me in the previous 12 months.

I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.

I am not liable for failures caused by third-party services.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

If something goes wrong, talk to me first. Most issues can be resolved with a conversation.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

13. changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.

For existing clients, I'll give 30 days notice of any material changes.
